![]() ![]() Is there a difference in brackets for FWD cars and RWD cars? If you pulled the p/s pump bracket, can you find a part number stamped on it? Perhaps the VIN on the motor will tell you what the donor car was. Or find a willing parts counter person at your local GM dealership and see what they list for parts numbers for each system. ![]() Call some salvage yards in your area and see what the Hollander interchange number is for the two different p/s pumps and see if the interchange number is the same or different for the brackets for vacuum boost and hydroboost pumps. If the donor bracket was used with the hydroboost pump, you could have a mismatched setup. If the donor car didn't have hydroboost, it would have had a different power steering pump and perhaps a different p/s pump bracket. I'd be inclined to say that if the VIN's don't match, you have a mix and match situation using some parts from the OE system and some from the donor car. It appears that all convertibles had disk/disk brakes and all convertibles had "hydraulic" boost (Hydrovac.) Here's a link from the website showing all of the info on the brake system. ![]()
